Asia Village is set to open in Northtown Mall in Blaine
by the end of 2025/beginning of 2026.
BLAINE, Minnesota — Since Asia Mall’s opening in Eden Prairie in 2022, it’s become a one-stop shop for Asian-inspired shopping and dining.
“When the Asia Mall opened up after the pandemic, it was a gamble… but it’s been met with terrific success,” said Michael Bui, who owns several restaurants inside Asia Mall.
Bui is one of the owners behind Pho Mai, Bober Tea & Mochi Dough, and the newly reopened Keefer Court Bakery & Cafe. According to Bui, Asia Mall is currently about 90% occupied.
“It’s just filled me with joy and thrill to see Asians and non-Asians, alike, come and experience Asian culture and Asian dining. I’m still amazed that little 6-year-olds come into our restaurant and eat pho like it’s hamburgers or hot dogs. So that’s what amazes me, is that people are accepting of Asian culture and Asian cuisine now more than when I first came to Minnesota,” Bui said.
Bui, along with the owners of Asia Mall, are now teaming up on a new project. Bui said they have been working on the idea since Asia Mall first opened.
Bui said they also wanted a location that wasn’t too close to Asia Mall.
For the City of Blaine, it fits the goals on revitalizing the mall.
“There’s also a big Asian community up in Blaine, Coon Rapids. I know the city is thriving and growing. So we want to be a part of that excitement,” Bui said.
According to Bui, they already have about 25% of the vendors needed. They will take over the space and start construction in August. It will then take about 12-16 months to complete renovations.
